ViaGaribaldi 12 Lifestylestore is pleased to participate in ‘Genoa in Blu 2014’ by presenting Chevald'Orient, the most prestigious dinner service from luxury brand Hermès, a collection often found aboard the world’s finest yachts.
Characterized by rich and elegant decorations similar to Persian miniatures and with shapes inspired by equine finery, Cheval d'Orient evokes the silk caravans and conviviality of the Far East. Inspiration is drawn from the fabulous miniature of the epic Persian poem Shahnameh. Dated 1440 and preserved in the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the decorators of Limoges, through the use of enamels in relief and24-carat gold, reinterpretedand transformed it into a narrative that is told across the plates, trays, gravy boats, cups and all the magnificent pieces that make up this service, the total value of which can easily exceed €50,000.
The exhibition, which will find its natural place among the gilded stucco of the Sala degli Zecchini (Hall of Sequins), designed by French architect Charles de Wailly in 1770, will be doubly interesting since during the same period at the nearby palazzo Nicolosio Lomellino there will be an exhibition dedicated to Ottoman art from 1450 to 1600.
