Part of the Masters' Pieces collection by Artemide, the Alfa table lamp appears in stark contrast to the cool rationalist design in vogue in the 1960s. Project from 1959 by designer Sergio Mazza, it takes up the traditional type of the abat-jour using the worked crystal to evoke the fine fabric pleating of the classic lampshade. Precious details such as the marble base and the brass rod make it an ironic reinterpretation of bourgeois taste, and an example of timeless elegance.
