The covering is magnetically attached to the metal frame via large magnetic buttons. It is designed to be hand-crumpled so it can take on its final shape.
Maap by Erwan Bouroullec brings together three recurring themes in his work: geometry, natural structures, and lightness. Conceived as a large luminous surface, its ultralight, paper-like membrane is meant to be crumpled during installation, contrasting geometric precision with unpredictability and creating a luminous landscape that can be reshaped endlessly. Like a cloud of natural light, Maap diffuses a soft, enveloping glow across a wide surface, with a design that is both radically simple and intrinsically complex.
