Eero Aarnio (1932) is one of the greatest renewer of contemporaneous Scandinavian Design. I am especially interested in this designer because I see him as a child in the adult, leading to connect playful and paradox aspects of design. He embossed a kind of playful Scandinavian design, removing from the purist work-understanding that characterized the design in the north of Europe. The here presented projects are the first ones of a product family that we are going to expand, said Alberto Alessi about the cooperation with Eero Aarnio.
Eero Aarnio designs objects for the house in geometric, rounded forms with high consequence since more than a half century, reminding of childish assortment systems. His nearly continuously plastic objects are visual histories that connect ironic and playful qualities to precise and expressive functional usage objects as well as his iconic seats creation Ball chair (1966), Pastil chair (1967) and Bubble chair (1968) that made him famous.
The Citrus lemon squeezer is also made out of plastic: out of thermoplastic resin and Aarnio designed it for Alessi. Citrus is available in a transparent edition.
