Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec designed their Vitra Algue in 2004 as a room divider which is individually designed and remains so in use. The plastic injection moulded algae-shaped objects are available in sets of 25 pieces, which when joined together form a slight, not entirely opaque, mesh curtain of about 1 m². Thanks to individual connectors an algal web can be spun as required, and then broken up and respun as situations change.
